Vehicle communication

Vehicle communication is needed to perform diagnostic readouts, diagnostic fault tracing and software download. The methods for managing communication between VIDA and a vehicle differ depending on the diagnostic protocol the vehicle uses.

VDS protocol-based vehicles

VDS protocol-based vehicles support diagnostics over wireless LAN and by Ethernet cable. This delivers faster communication and a simplified connection procedure compared to former vehicle communication methods. No vehicle communication tools such as DiCE are needed. There is still support for DiCE and J2534 devices but communication may be slow using these devices.

D2 and GGD protocol-based vehicles

For vehicles using D2 and GGD protocol for diagnostics, a vehicle communication tool is needed.
